Our Ashram
Our ashram in Rishikesh sits in Laxman Jhula (249302), just behind the local police station on the banks of the Ganga. Modest residential rooms, a sattvic kitchen, two yoga halls, a meditation cave and a small bookshop are arranged around a quiet inner courtyard. The campus is a yoga-only space — founded in 2011 by Yogi Vishnu Panigrahi, and run today as both a Yoga Alliance accredited school and a residential teacher-training home.
What you'll notice first is what's missing — the absence of traffic noise, of nightclub music, of the bustle that fills most parts of Rishikesh. The river, the mountain air and the early-morning hush are not incidental. They are part of the practice itself. Most students settle in within a day and find their own rhythm with the ashram's by the end of the first week.
Inside the Ashram
A look at the spaces, the people, and the daily rhythm of life at Samadhi Yoga Ashram, Rishikesh.
About Yogi Vishnu
From a quiet village in Odisha to one of the most respected ashrams in Rishikesh — Yogi Vishnu’s life has been a long, patient walk along the Himalayan yogic path.
Born in a Brahmin family in a village in western Odisha, Yogi Vishnu’s childhood unfolded around the small Radha-Krishna temple his grandfather had built. From a young age, he served food and water to the wandering sadhus who passed through — listening to their stories of practice, places, and the spiritual life. Meditation, guided by his grandfather, was woven into his daily routine before he had a word for it.
As he stepped into adolescence and moved to a nearby city for higher education, he often left class to attend the satsangs of swamis and sadhus visiting the area. Encounters with masters like Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Haridwar deepened his quest. In those years, he and a close friend would rise before dawn to chant Mahamudgaram — the hymn by Adi Shankaracharya said to dispel fear and cultivate vairagya.
Today, he leads Samadhi Yoga Ashram with the same depth that was offered to him — transferring not just technique, but the philosophy, contextual values and scientific clarity behind every practice.
Disciple of the Himalayan tradition, close to Swami Veda Bharati, Swami Hari and Swami Avdheshanand Giri.
Decades of personal practice in meditation, pranayama, kriya and yoga philosophy.
Founder of Samadhi Yoga Ashram — teaching the full yogic path, not a fragment of it.
Mentor to students and teachers from over 100 countries worldwide.
I bow my head before Shree Guru, by whom the eyes of wisdom have been opened in the darkness of ignorance.
— Guru Vandana

Yoga Teachers
The relationship between teacher and student sits at the centre of how we work. Our faculty includes long-serving senior teachers, philosophy scholars, anatomy specialists and visiting masters who teach specific modules. Most have taught here for more than a decade. A short preview is below; the full faculty bios are on the yoga teachers in Rishikesh page.
A yoga teacher is a teacher of love and compassion — one who shares not only information but experience. That experience is what opens the eyes of the student.
