Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

Courses Offered at Samadhi Yoga Ashram

Choosing the right yoga teacher training in Rishikesh starts with knowing what you actually need. We offer four duration tracks — 100, 200, 300 and 500 hours — across three streams: multi-style (Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa), Kundalini, and Ayurveda-integrated. Every course is Yoga Alliance accredited as RYS 200, RYS 300 or RYS 500, and is taught residentially at our Laxman Jhula ashram. The summaries below show duration, level and current fee — open any card for the full syllabus.

Multi-Style

Multi-Style Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh

Our multi-style yoga teacher training combines Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa within a single residential syllabus. Daily classes cover asana, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy from the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita, functional anatomy, alignment and teaching methodology. Most students begin with the 200-hour RYS 200 in Rishikesh — our flagship 25-day course. If yoga is new to you, the 100-hour foundation runs 13 days. Certified teachers extend their study through the 300-hour or full 500-hour curriculum.

Specialty tracks are available alongside the multi-style stream: our kundalini yoga programs in Rishikesh for energy-awakening practice, and our 100-hour ayurveda yoga teacher training for students integrating yoga with Ayurvedic principles. Beginners are welcome on every course — a regular home practice of three to six months is helpful but not required.

Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Ashram

Yoga Alliance Accreditation — What RYS and RYT Mean

Yoga Alliance is a US-based non-profit that maintains the international standards for yoga teacher training. A school that meets those standards is registered as an RYS (Registered Yoga School). A graduate of that school can then register as an RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) — RYT 200, RYT 500 or higher, depending on the hours completed. Samadhi Yoga Ashram is registered with Yoga Alliance USA at the RYS 200, RYS 300 and RYS 500 levels, which means your certification is recognised by studios and employers worldwide.

Internationally recognised · Registered with Yoga Alliance USA

Becoming A Teacher

When you complete a course with us, your hours are credited toward Yoga Alliance registration at the matching level — RYT 200 after the 200-hour, RYT 500 after the 500-hour. The registration gives you a teaching credential studios and employers around the world can verify.

Confirm Your Certification

Yoga Alliance registration after course completion is free and self-paced. You can register directly with Yoga Alliance whenever you're ready — your certificate from us remains valid regardless of when you register.

What Sets Us Apart

What Makes Our Ashram Different From Other Schools In India

Samadhi Yoga Ashram is, simultaneously, an ashram, a Yoga Alliance accredited yoga school, and a residential yoga and ayurveda retreat centre. The three identities are not in conflict — they describe how we live and teach. The six lenses below show what that means in practice: the tradition we follow, who the teachers are, where we sit on the map, what the campus offers, the courses we run, and what alumni do after they leave.

Tradition

Samadhi Yoga Ashram is rooted in the Himalayan tradition — the lineage of yogis who, for centuries, have lived and taught in the Ganga valley north of Rishikesh. Where many modern schools teach yoga primarily as asana technique, our curriculum holds the full eight-limbed path (ashtanga yoga of Patanjali) as the framework, with asana, pranayama and meditation taught as inseparable parts of a single practice.

This is what shapes the difference you'll feel on the mat and off it. Certification is the visible outcome; the work is inner — building a daily practice that holds up after the course ends.

Teachers

While many yoga schools rely on instructors trained through short-term teacher training courses or university programs, our teachers are deeply rooted in tradition and take this as a part of life.

They have studied under masters, embodying lifelong yogic discipline, and also hold advanced degrees like Masters or PhDs in Yoga Sciences. This makes your learning more authentic, profound, and multidimensional.

Our location is just behind the local police station for added safety.

Courses

At Samadhi Yoga Ashram, a wide range of courses are available under one roof—from yoga teacher training to advanced meditation, Kriya Yoga, Ayurveda, and more. After completing your main course, you can explore further studies based on your interest and energy such as Yin Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Short Courses on Ayurveda etc.

Opportunities

Taking your certificate from Samadhi Yoga Ashram opens lifelong opportunities. Our internal team can support you in your growth and whilst you take the steps to build your kula, including bringing your students for retreats and training in India.

Unlike schools where the relationship ends with certification, here it continues. We stay in touch with alumni through course updates, alumni discounts, hosting support for graduates who bring their own students, and a continuing-education path for those who want to deepen their practice.

The Himalayan Tradition

A Practice for This Life, Not the Next

Classical Kriya Yoga, as taught in the Himalayan tradition, weaves breath, energy and meditation into a single daily practice. Watch a short introduction to how the work is taught at Samadhi Yoga Ashram — and what it is for.

Days at the ashram begin before the town does. The 5 a.m. bell, ten minutes of silence, then pranayama and meditation before the first asana class — that is the rhythm the rest of the day is built on. By the time most people in Rishikesh are eating breakfast, you've already practised, washed, and walked to study.

Three sattvic vegetarian meals are served at fixed times. Between meals, classes alternate between philosophy from the Yoga Sutras, anatomy, alignment workshops, and teaching practice. Evenings close with meditation, mantra and the day's last bell at 10 p.m. Whether you're on the Rishikesh campus or the Ubud shala in Bali, the structure is the same — only the river outside the door changes.

The shift most students notice in the first week is small and physical: deeper sleep, a calmer morning, a quieter mind in moments that used to feel hurried. Whether you stay for 13 days, 25 days, or a full 58, what you take home is not a peak experience — it is the structure of a daily practice that holds when you get back to ordinary life.

What you carry home is the rhythm itself.

  • 5:00 AM

    Morning Practice

Pranayama, meditation & asana to awaken body and mind in stillness.

  • 8:00 AM

    Sattvic Meals

Nourishing vegetarian food that energises without heaviness, eaten mindfully.

  • 10:00 AM

    Philosophy & Study

Deep dives into yoga sutras, anatomy, and teaching methodology with experts.

  • 6:00 PM

    Evening Meditation

Close the day with guided meditation, mantra, and reflective stillness.

Samadhi Yoga Ashram

Why Learn Yoga in Rishikesh?

Ask anyone who has trained in Rishikesh what made it different, and the answer is rarely about the curriculum. It is about the place — the Himalayas at your back, the Ganga in front, temples around every corner and a town that has lived and breathed yoga for thousands of years. Rishikesh does not just host yoga; it is built from it.

  • 01 Immersive

    A Truly Immersive Experience

Yoga in Rishikesh is a full life, not a scheduled class. Your day begins before sunrise, your meals are sattvic, and your evenings are spent by the river. By the end of the first week, most students notice something has already begun to shift — a quietness, a focus, a sense of being exactly where they are supposed to be.

  • 02 Lineage

Learn Directly from the Masters of the Tradition

The teachers who come to Rishikesh are not here for a season. Many have spent decades studying here, receiving knowledge passed down through generations of practitioners. That depth shows up in how they teach — not from a manual, but from lived experience.

  • 03 Standard

A Global Standard for Yoga Education

Rishikesh has earned its reputation as the home of serious yoga education. The yoga schools here are held to a high standard, with structured programs, qualified instructors and certifications that are recognised by studios and employers worldwide.

  • 04 Sacred

A Place That Holds the Practice for You

Rishikesh has been a yoga town for centuries. The morning aarti at the river, the temple bells, the absence of nightclubs and traffic noise — these are not features advertised to students; they are simply how the town runs. That environment quietly does half the work of a residential training. Students arrive carrying ordinary life and find, by week two, that some of it has already been set down.

We Follow

The 5000 Years Old Yoga Tradition of The Himalayan Masters

Samadhi Yoga Ashram follows the teachings of generations of Himalayan masters and saints who lived in the cave hermitages of the Himalayas. The teaching lineage stretches back nearly 5,000 years and includes Adi Shankaracharya, Swami Rama of the Himalayas, and his student Swami Veda Bharati. This tradition was practiced for centuries without a single name — we refer to it simply as the Tradition of the Himalayan Masters.

Yogi Vishnu Panigrahi, the founder of Samadhi Yoga Ashram, is a student of Swami Veda Bharati — who was, in turn, a student of Swami Rama. Through this unbroken teacher-student chain, the practical methods of pranayama, meditation, kriya and yoga philosophy have been transmitted from one generation to the next without being diluted by trend.

Although yoga has roots in Hindu culture, it is not a religion. The Himalayan path is open to anyone — regardless of religion, language or nationality. What it asks of you is sincerity, regularity, and willingness to learn from a teacher. The classical teacher-student relationship is still the foundation of how we work.

The ashram teaches the full eight-limbed path of yoga — including Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Raja Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Tantra Yoga. A central instruction of the Himalayan tradition is "to be free of fear, become aware of the reality within." The work is practical, daily, and grounded — not abstract, not religious, not performative.

Frequently Asked Questions

Three things, specifically. We are a Yoga Alliance accredited RYS 200 / RYS 300 / RYS 500, not a short-course studio. We are an ashram — students live and study in the same place — so practice is residential, not commute-based. And we teach the full eight-limbed path (asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy, ethics, meditation), not asana alone. Over 2,000 graduates from 50+ countries have trained here since 2011.

Our main ashram is behind Laxman Jhula Police Station, Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand 249302, on the banks of the Ganga at the foothills of the Himalayas. Our second campus is in Ubud, Bali. Both locations host residential yoga teacher training, retreats and daily drop-in classes.

Yes. Samadhi Yoga Ashram is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance USA at the 200-hour, 300-hour and 500-hour levels. Graduates can register as RYT 200, RYT 500, RCYT (kids) and RPYT (prenatal) yoga teachers worldwide.

We offer 100-hour, 200-hour, 300-hour and 500-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh and Bali, online kundalini and hatha YTT, kundalini and tantra training, ayurveda yoga teacher training, yin yoga TTC, prenatal and kids yoga teacher training, plus yoga and meditation retreats and reiki courses.

Our senior teachers are Yoga Alliance certified at the E-RYT 500 level and most have practised and taught at the ashram for more than a decade. Several hold advanced degrees in Yoga Sciences and trained directly in the Himalayan tradition under recognised masters. Faculty includes specialists in pranayama, anatomy, philosophy and kundalini.

A typical day runs from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mornings open with pranayama and meditation, followed by hatha or ashtanga asana before breakfast. Late morning is yoga philosophy from the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. Afternoons are anatomy, alignment workshops and teaching methodology. Evenings close with meditation, mantra and kirtan. Sundays are typically lighter or off, depending on the batch.

Our multi-style track covers Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa and gentle Vinyasa, with pranayama, meditation and yoga philosophy taught daily alongside. Specialty tracks focus on Kundalini Yoga (with kriya, mantra and chakra work) or Ayurveda-integrated yoga. Yin and prenatal modules are available as separate courses.

Accommodation is on campus in clean private or twin-sharing rooms with hot water 24/7 and Wi-Fi. Three sattvic vegetarian meals a day are prepared fresh in our kitchen and served at fixed times. Vegan, gluten-free and other dietary needs are accommodated — please inform us at registration.

Our 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh starts from USD 1,200, including a private or shared room, three sattvic meals a day, all course materials and Yoga Alliance certification. Full pricing for 100, 200, 300 and 500-hour courses — in Rishikesh, Bali and online — is on our course fees page. A USD 200 deposit reserves your seat.

No formal yoga experience is required for our 200-hour yoga teacher training. The program is designed for sincere beginners as well as experienced practitioners. A regular self-practice of three to six months is helpful but not mandatory.

What You Will Study

The Four Pillars of Our Curriculum

Every Yoga Teacher Training at Samadhi Yoga Ashram rests on four pillars. They appear in every course we teach, from the 13-day 100-hour foundation to the full 58-day 500-hour. They are what the daily timetable, the philosophy syllabus and the practice teaching are built around.

  • Kriya Yoga Practice at Samadhi Yoga Ashram

    Classical Kriya Yoga

Breath, energy and meditation practices from the Himalayan tradition — taught as a daily integrated kriya, not as separate techniques.

  • Traditional Yoga Method at Himalayan Ashram

    Traditional Method of Yoga

Rooted in ancient scriptures, offering a holistic mind-body-spirit approach.

  • Practical Yoga Training Session in Rishikesh

    Practical Oriented

Hands-on techniques for real-life application and daily yogic integration.

  • Yoga in India at Samadhi Ashram

    Inner Work, Not Just Certification

A course produces a teacher; the daily practice produces the change. Both matter — neither is sold as a guarantee.
