Guru Vishnu Panigrahi
From a quiet village in Odisha to one of the most respected ashrams in Rishikesh — Yogi Vishnu's life has been a long, patient walk along the Himalayan yogic path.
Born in a Brahmin family in a village in western Odisha, Yogi Vishnu's childhood unfolded around the small Radha-Krishna temple his grandfather had built. From a young age, he served food and water to the wandering sadhus who passed through — listening to their stories of practice, places, and the spiritual life. Meditation, guided by his grandfather, was woven into his daily routine before he had a word for it.
As he stepped into adolescence and moved to a nearby city for higher education, he often left class to attend the satsangs of swamis and sadhus visiting the area. Encounters with masters like Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Haridwar deepened his quest. In those years, he and a close friend would rise before dawn to chant Mahamudgaram — the hymn by Adi Shankaracharya said to dispel fear and cultivate vairagya.
Today, he leads Samadhi Yoga Ashram with the same depth that was offered to him — transferring not just technique, but the philosophy, contextual values and scientific clarity behind every practice.
I bow my head before Shree Guru, by whom the eyes of wisdom have been opened in the darkness of ignorance.
