Umakanta Sahoo (Guna)
Guna was born in Jagannath Dham, Puri, and his story is built on more than 10 years of hard physical training before it became a story about healing. He spent over a decade training in Mallakhamb, the demanding pole yoga practice that needs real strength, balance, and control, long before he turned to the more careful, hands-on work of Marma Therapy.
He studied Marma Therapy under Dr. Madhusudan Ray, learning to work with the body's marma points, key spots used in traditional Indian healing to release tension and bring the body back into balance. What makes his teaching different is that he never left his Mallakhamb background behind. Instead, he combines that hands-on healing work with Ayurvedic lifestyle guidance, giving students a fuller picture of how movement, touch, and daily habits all connect.
Students who work with him should expect something a bit different from a regular yoga class. Marma Therapy is a quieter, more precise practice, focused on specific points on the body rather than big movements, and Guna's years of Mallakhamb training give him a strong, practical understanding of the body he's working on. His sessions feel grounded and useful, aimed at helping students manage the real strain of everyday life, not just offering something purely spiritual.
If you're curious about a healing tradition that goes beyond stretching and posture, or want guidance on bringing Ayurvedic habits into your daily routine, Guna offers a rare mix of physical training and healing skill built over more than 10 years.
